Introduced: 1988
Flower description: Flowers shaded dark red to vivid reddish-orange, a strong colour that does not fade in the sun. Flowers in May/June.
Height & habit: 1.2-1.5m/4-5ft approx. in 10 years. Nabucco is a good medium sized shrub.
Uses: The bold flowers bring a splash of colour to beds and borders in spring.

Introduced: 1977 by Hachmann
Flower description: Vivid glowing red flowers in tight trusses with orange insides.  Flowers May/June.
Height and Habit: over 150cm

Kosters Brilliant Red Azalea Koster's Brilliant Red

A Mollis hybrid - selections made by Belgian nurserymen from 1873.
Introduced: 1918
Flower description: Glowing orange-red flowers in April/May.
Height & habit: 1.2-1.5m/4-5ft approx. in 10 years. Koster's Brilliant Red has a good compact habit and some autumn colour.
Uses: The bold flowers bring a splash of colour to the garden in spring, and in autumn the foliage takes on rich orange/yellow hues adding further interest
